Some classic progressive rock

This is my first mixtape, and first newsletter post for this publication. So why not starting with my history in music. I became a classic progressive rock enjoyer at the age of 8, so here’s my history in a 60-minutes mixtape

Side A - Where it all started

Thick as a Brick (A side) by Jethro Tull. This has been my first clear musical memory. My father was blasting this at full volume in our old house, I remember I started laughing, and stayed there for the whole 23 minutes of this classic masterpiece.

Carpet Crawlers by Genesis. Another of my first musical experiences. Just perfect.

Side B - The true love

The Night Watch by King Crimson. No words, just my favourite piece of musical work. Beautiful melody, unbeliavable guitar solo. King Crimson and Robert Fripp are my musical heroes, and it all started here.

Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel. My second musical hero, and the opening of his first solo album. And by the way, it has Fripp in it.

Tunnel of Love by Dire Straits. Not progressive by any means, but God that closing guitar solo it’s perfect.

Refugees by Van Der Graaf Generator. Because it feels like peace of mind, that flute on the intro.
